The World Wide Fund For Nature (WWF) will soon
be launching a major site on the World Wide Web.
A subsection of the WWF site will include a searchable
interdisciplinary database of scientists, faculty,
and experts in environmental fields entitled
'Environmental Scholars' which will help a cross-section
of scholars network and share information. This database will
allow users to search by keyword and locate one another.
If you would like to be included in this database,
we ask that you email us at

Public Participation Project Coordinator
The Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe (REC) is
an independent international organization with its headquarters in
Budapest. The REC seeks to address the environmental challenges common to
Central and Eastern Europe by promoting ecologically sustainable
development, increasing public awareness in the Central and Eastern
European countries and promoting public participation in environmental
decisionmaking by providing information and encouraging cooperation among
Regional stakeholders. The REC gives support to environmental
non-governmental organizations in the Region and has launched different
initiatives for local authorities, national governments, academic
institutions, the media and business in 13 CEE countries.
Responsibilities
The Project Coordinator (PC) will work closely with the Public
Participation Program Coordinator, and reports to the Manager of the REC
Initiatives and will be responsible for coordinating and organizing the
legal components of the relevant sub-projects (Sub-project 1.: Manuals on
Public Participation and Sub-project 2.: Support Public Participation
Activities at the Local Level) of the of the Public Participation Program
in a timely and cost-effective manner. The PC will develop the detailed
plans for this particular aspect of the different subprojects. The PC will
be responsible to edit materials provided by contracted expert and prepare
certain materials on its own based upon the guidance provided. The PC will
be responsible to monitor and control activities of the implementation of
the relevant sub-projects. The PC will participate in the development,
publishing and dissemination of products (results) of the subprojects. The
PC will establish and maintain good working relationship with governments,
NGOs, business and key environmental experts. The PC will provide advice
and support in the development of new initiatives especially for the Public
Participation Program.
Qualifications:
Education:
University level legal education preferably with specialization in
environmental law.
Experience and skill level required:
Good understanding of the environmental legal problems of CEE
countries, Proven experience in environmental public interest law,
Ability to communicate with all constituents, Excellent project
management skills, Excellent organization skills, Ability to manage
projects with a high degree of responsibility and independence, Good
ability to communicate in English and one CEE language.
Location and duration of position
The Project Coordinator will work in REC Headquarters in Budapest in close
cooperation with CEE in-country and Western experts. The job includes
extensive traveling in CEE region.
The position is available from February 15, 1996 to December 31, 1996, with
a 3 month probation period. If the candidate will prove to be successful in
the position the contract will be prolonged for the rest of the period.

Dear friends,
We send this message to remind you that the deadline for
applications to join A SEED Europe office team in Amsterdam is
!!! January 31st 1996 !!!
Here is our proposal once again:
A SEED (Action for Solidarity, Equality, Environment and
Development), international youth network, has a new volunteer place
for 6 month in the European office (Amsterdam, the Netherlands)
starting as soon as possible in February 1996.
We are looking for a person:
----------------------------
- 18-34 years old (preferrably woman for gender ballance in the
office), available for 6 month; who wants to work on general
office tasks as well as on the specific campaign;
- who is a citizent of Poland, Check Republic, Slovenia,
Slovakia or Hungary ("non-visa" country because of we don't
have much time for visa procedures this time);
- who speaks/reads/writes reasonably English
- who is active in and has some experience in the
environmental/ development/ alternative movement in their own
country
- who is interested to continue working with A SEED Europe upon
return to their own country
We offer:

- a six month stay in Amsterdam, working in the coordination
office of A SEED Europe
- travel costs to/from Amsterdam paid, plus accomodation and
very reasonable pocket money
- a thorough training in organising skills, office work and
international environmental activism
- lots of fun living in the Netherlands
