mr horvat, pls make it clear that when you say "nobody wants
austria back", you actually mean: "nobody in hungary wants
austria back." slovakia, and other countries have peaceful
and friendly relationships with their neighbours (including
hungary, by no fault of the latter). if you publish
all-inclusive formulations, a neutral reader might get the
impression that readers of the slovak listserve are musing along
your lines. that is not true.
+ - Hungarian dance preformance in Lubbock, Texas (mind) VÁLASZ  Feladó: (cikkei)

Hello folks:

I heard from Ms. Bo:ske Tima'r that two dancers are visiting Lubbock, Texas
later in March. She said that two boys will practice a choreography with
a local ballet dancer, and have two stages. She said to me that she lets
me know more about event later, but I cannot wait.

Is there anybody knows about this event? What kind of event, and who is
organizing it? What else will be happening when they perform? How the
two dancers' schedule will be? Can we ask them to have a small workshop,
if we wish? What do they dance? Who is the girl in Lubbock? Is there
anybody who will go to Lubbock from central Texas or somewhere else, and
could give us a ride (expecting a party of two, at least)?

Please let me know if you know anything about it. I will post again if
anybody in this mailing-list/newsgroup shows interest. Thanks for your
reply in advance!

     Hungarian electronic resources FAQ

3. Interactive services
3.1 What's available on the World Wide Web

The following is the chapter recently removed from the main body of
the hungarian-faq. This is not yet completely re-edited for stand-alone
format, nor completing a collection of all important links has been
attempted. For more comprehensive WWW directories see, for example:
<http://www.hungary.com/hudir/>;, <http://www.hungary.com/hudir/>; or
<http://www.fsz.bme.hu/hungary/homepage.html>;.
This version 0.2 contains some aditional links not shown in 0.1,=20
see the HTML listing appended near the end of this document!

- ----------------------------------------------------------------------

Subject: 3. INTERACTIVE SERVICES

If you are using Hungarian interactive services from abroad (or vice
versa): please note that interactive Internet connections like WWW
may be very slow, even timing out during peak hours - try times of
lower network load when the response time is usually reasonable.

- ------------------------------

Subject: 3.1 What's available on the World Wide Web

This document you are reading now is hosted at
<http://www.hix.com/hungarian-faq/hungarian-faq/web>;, and its directory
has a few other documents and several links to other sites of
interest.

The Hungarian Home Page is at
<http://www.fsz.bme.hu/hungary/homepage.html>; with links to the
registered Hungarian www servers, including

     - the Prime Minister's Office: <http://www.meh.hu>; (overseas users
    please notice that the use of the <http://www.hungary.com/meh/>;
mirror is requested to cut down transatlantic traffic!)

     - a weather forecast page (this is updated daily, and includes weather
forecasts, meteorological maps, and METEOSAT satellite images; this
    page is in Hungarian)

     - home pages of Hungarian cities (currently Budapest, Debrecen,
Miskolc, Pecs, Szeged), and of educational and other institutions=20

     - a comprehensive list of Hungarian telnet services (e.g. library=20
databases), gopher and ftp sites (3.2). The content of almost all the=
=20
Hungarian FTP sites is indexed and can be searched.

The Hungary Online Directory (HUDIR) is at
<http://www.hungary.com/hudir/>; featuring a hierarchical
database of Hungarian online content worldwide. Currently it has links
in excess of 2500.

HIX has a WWW server in the USA: the URL is <http://www.hix.com>;.
To check out fresh content, see <http://www.hix.com/friss2/>;, which
gives you a comprehensive table of content for new material arrived in
the last 24 hours (which is typically in the order of 100-150 pages).
Besides back issues of its email journals, and a plethora of other
files in Hungarian and English, it offers an on-line English-Hungarian,
Hungarian-English dictionary (<http://www.hix.com/hix/szotar/>; - its
European mirror is at <http://tpri6l.gsi.de/szotar.html>;), and various
home pages and pointers to other sources. Partial mirrors located in
Hungary are <http://www.eunet.hu/eunet/hix/>; (for the Magyar Narancs
archive), and <http://hal9000.elte.hu/hix/>; (for some pictures, and
searching the Radir database - see below).

Hungary.Network - The GateWWWay to Hungary at
<http://www.hungary.com/>; has a number of government, commercial and
organizational users listed.

TourInform is at <http://www.hungary.com/tourinform/>; is the service
of the Hungarian Tourism Service, the official promotion agency of the
Hungarian Tourist Board. They offer practical information, maps,
broshures and even tours on video casette.

The Open Media Research Institute has a WWW server, available at
<http://www.omri.cz>;. Available at this Web site are all back issues
of the Daily Digest, tables of contents for Transition, OMRI's
bi-weekly analytical journal, and information about OMRI's activities
and staff.

The World Wide Web server of Central Europe Today is at the URL
<http://www.eunet.cz>;.

Find back issues of the Hungary Report on the World Wide Web at=20
<http://www.yak.net/hungary-report/>; or <http://www.isys.hu/hol>;.=20
The Hungary-Online archive is available from=20
<http://www.yak.net/hungary-online/>; or <http://www.isys.hu/hrep>;=20
as well.

There is a growing Hungarian resource directory at
<http://mineral.umd.edu/hir/>;. [The same server also hosts a
 "Hungarian Electronic Resources FAQ"<http://mineral.umd.edu/faq/>;.]

There is a"Foreign Languages for Travellers"collection of essential
Hungarian expressions with English, German and French explanation,
complete with sound at
<http://insti.physics.sunysb.edu/~mmartin/languages/hungarian/hungarian.htm=
l>.

The American Association of Young Hungarians (AAYH) has its homepage
at <http://www.aayh.org/>;.

A Hungarian church in Chicago has info at
 <http://users.aol.com/MikeC16958/>;.

The Gyorgy Bessenyei Teachers Training College (Nyiregyhaza) offers=20
some 3000 pages worth of database for Szabolcs-Szatmar-Bereg county=20
(Eastern Hungary) as well as other goodies and general Internet help,
in both Hungarian and English: <http://www.bgytf.hu/>;.

See also section 2.3 above, which covers
<http://www.siliconvalley.com/>; and refers to other links as well.

+ - ISFA News : NEW ISFA and ISFAnet Homepages !!! (mind) VÁLASZ  Feladó: (cikkei)

Hi : ISFA has a new and faster loading, more practical Main Page
(http://www.isfa.com/). You'll find an easy to use drop-down menu in this
wonderful new design by Hyper, from Australia. Thanks Hyper !!! :-)

ISFAnet IRC Server also has a completely redesigned Homepage
(http://www.isfa.com/irc.html). It leads to all the relevant sections of
ISFA's IRC Server including a newly organized and under construction IRC
Soccer Calendar, Channel Registration Web Chat, etc. Thanks to I_Wright and
Aina for the wonderful graphics used in these pages.

One word about ISFAnet policy : all fans have the chance to register their
own IRC Soccer Channels (http://www.isfa.com/irc/affiliate.html) and to
operate them independently. Only Officially Registered Channels can be
joined in order to maintain some order and to avoid the creation of any
warez or sex channels which are not allowed at ISFAnet. You will find that
the Server will not allow you to join a non registered channel.

Being a young IRC Server ISFAnet is proud to have had Live Coms regularly,
like today when ^Saturn gave Coms of the Chelsea vs Manchester Utd game in
#soccer (chat) and #stadium (moderated Live Coms).

About ^Saturn it must be said he has quickly become a force at ISFAnet,
working tirelessly to build both the Server and also #soccer, of which he
has been made Channel Admin. Go ^Saturn !!! :-)

TheGrid is now working on a Fileserv Bot which will connect you to the ISFA
Ftp Site where you can DCC the extensive Pic, Sound and Video collection
into your hard drive while you visit ISFAnet It will be operational soon.

We also have Mabbs, from New Zealand, a very experienced IRCop, who will be
happy to help you and also to entertain you with her wit. Don't cross her
though, as she is the K-line Queen at ISFA. :-)

Lastly thanks for the great response from all you fans in sending your
entries to the ISFA Logo Contest. Picking the winner will not be easy with
such great entries. For full details of the ISFA Logo Contest please go to

I do not want to insult your intelligence, so please give us
ONE good reason (save all that old fashioned mumbling), just
the reason, why Russia is doing everything to stop us

Nincsen igy. A tibeti nyelv a delkeletazsiai nyelvek csaladjaba tar-
tozik. Annyi koze van a magyarhoz, hogy Korocsi Csoma (?) csinalt
egy (talan epp az elso ?) tibeti szotarat.

Nehez elkepzelni, hogy egy hegyi nepnek es egy sztyeppei nepnek
azonos hagyomanyai legyenek. Olvastam tibeti mondakat, de sem-
mi hasonlatossagra nem emlexem. A tibeti buddhizmus gyokerei
nagyon regiek, ez olyan mertekben hatassal volt a kulturara, hogy
nehez anelkul a tibeti hagyomanyokrol beszelni. A magyarokat
ugyan kimutathatoan sok es valtozatos hatas erte, de a buddhiz-
mus nincs ezek kozott.

Probably because Russia doesn't like NATO missles deployed
around her borders. Also, i think, because Russia is striving
against new iron curtain in Europe built from the west side.

Don't worry, you'll here that after/if become NATO members
while still depending on Russian gas and energy ;-)

Since somebody already "stole" my line about suggesting "Csilla", let me
add another one: Re'ka. BTW, anybody knows the origin of these two
names? On the latter, I suspect Rachel or Rebekka, but it's just a wild
guess. But if it was right, it would not qualify Reka as an original
Hungarian name, of course. But I still like it for some reason.

+ - Arsenal vs Spurs LIVE in ISFAnet s IRC #arsenal !!! (mind) VÁLASZ  Feladó: (cikkei)

Hi : #arsenal will be operating as usual tomorrow for the game against
Spurs but in our NEW HOME at ISFAnet IRC Server, a dedicated IRC Soccer
Server. Here is how to get there by conventional IRC Client :

Server : irc.isfa.com

Port : 6667

or by Web Chat :

http://www.isfa.com:8080

The Web Chat is really very simple to operate. Just fill in the values in
Java Applet and replace the default #soccer for #arsenal and you're in !
:-)

Be aware that it may take a couple of minutes to get Web Chat downloaded
into your Web Browser. Once it's working it is really the nicest Web Chat I
have seen and it takes you directly to #arsenal in the ISFAnet IRC Server.

USEFUL URL's :

#arsenal Homepage : http://www.isfa.com/irc/arsenal/

ISFAnet Homepage : http://www.isfa.com/isfanet.html

Arsenal Newsgroup (isfa.soccer.arsenal) : http://www.isfa.com/newsgroups/

Cheers and see you in ISFAnet !

Why are YOU still chewing on it ever since? I do NOT think that the
majority in Hungary wants to get back all these parts but it is wrong to
forget that there are people living there who call themselves Hungarians.
You could look at it another way. What would a reunion do to the
Hungary´s economy? Rebuild infrastructure costs a lot of money. And
Slovakia could use a little bit more infrastructure as well as Romenia.

Racist, nationalist or chauvinist? (perhaps I spelled it wrong), I don't
think that speaking Slovakian or Hungarian is a racial question. We are
not that different.
